Disney's California Adventure™ park is now open, so come celebrate the fun and adventures of California -- Disney style! You'll be immersed in the California spirit through the magic of Hollywood, the thrills of a beachfront boardwalk and the adventures of the great outdoors. So head on over!

Located directly across from Disneyland in Anaheim, California, Disney's California Adventure  has its own distinctive identity, separate from that of the classic original Disneyland. "There's a kind of brash California attitude that we wanted to capture," Braverman says. "Much more pop culture and MTV with a little tongue-in-cheek thrown in. It's shorthand, impressionistic, and cinematic."  The park is divided into three primary "lands" -- Golden State, Paradise Pier, and Hollywood Pictures Backlot -- each layered with myriad themed experiences that celebrate the California dream. "This is a park that is very open in its views," says Braverman. "You can stand at the park's entry plaza and see the gateway to Golden State; you can see the California Grizzly Bear icon high atop Grizzly Peak; you can see the gates to Hollywood; and you can see Paradise Pier's massive roller coaster, along with so much more. Here we have a park that embraces 'visual intrusion' and turns it into an attribute that draws Guests into the environment and the excitement happening throughout." The challenges of creating such a park were formidable. "When we started working on it there was a tremendous amount of suspicion in the air because it was so different," Braverman recalls. "This wasn't to be a theme park in the traditional Disney sense."

The portal to all the major areas of Disney's California Adventure park, the Sunshine Plaza is also a prime location for guests to rest or catch a parade. The plaza's centerpiece is a 50-foot-tall sun (sitting atop a perpetual wave fountain), which glistens during the day and is lit by a dazzling spectacle of red, orange and yellow lights at night.

Information Board Tip Get updated information on showtimes, popular attraction wait times, and ride closures at the Information Board located in the Disney's California Adventure® hub, in front of the walkway leading to Paradise Pier. Board is updated every hour and is staffed with Cast Members who are there to answer any specific Disneyland Resort questions.

"Golden State," a land celebrating the richness and diversity of California; its natural resources; and pioneering spirit of its people -- past and present. The six unique areas of the land: Condor Flats, Bountiful Valley Farm, Pacific Wharf, Bay Area, Grizzly Peak Recreation Area, Golden Vine Winery serve as a backdrop for a look at the unique blend of commerce, industry, and agriculture that have helped develop over the years.

Same-day Re-entry Tip Be sure to have your hand stamped upon exiting the park and hold on to your ticket if you plan on returning later the same day.

Add a dash of the bygone days of California's legendary surfside boardwalks to the excitement of a seaside resort and top it off with a heaping helping of Disney magic, and you've got Paradise Pier -- a land at Disney's California Adventure™ park dedicated to the fantastic "Golden Age" of amusement parks, jam-packed with wild attractions, delectable diners and unique shops. It's "Fun in the Sun for Everyone!"

Avalon Cove Reservations Tip If you would like to dine at Avalon Cove, same-day reservations are taken on a limited basis. Head over to the restaurant and make reservations, as certain dining times may fill up.

Through the enormous gates, that pay tribute to legendary filmmaker D.W. Griffith, await shimmering Hollywood Boulevard, glitzy cafés and shops, famous theaters and a real studio backlot. It's all a bustling recreation of the Golden Age of Hollywood, and this time, you're the star!

ABC Soap Opera Bistro Reservations Tip If you would like to dine at the ABC Soap Opera Bistro, same-day reservations can be made on a limited basis. Head over to the restaurant early to make reservations, as certain dining times may fill up.
