Omaha is located along the banks of the Missouri river. Among the city’s major attractions is the legendary Boy’s Town. Boy’s Town is the residential program for underprivileged youths established by Father Flanagan. The Joslyn Art Museum showcases unusual art deco and neoclassical designs. Another museum to see is the Union Pacific Historical Museum, where the history of the railroad extending from coast to coast is documented. Located nearby the museum is Kenefick Park, where you can view two Union Pacific Locomotives. One is a steam engine and the other is a diesel-fueled and both were the largest of their kinds. Lincoln is Nebraska’s capital city. Visit the Sheldon Memorial Art Gallery and Sculpture Garden. Kids will love the Lincoln Children’s Museum, which offers a fantastic computer-driven exhibit. As soothing music plays, kids watch their silhouettes move over an ever-changing background screen, using solid, patterned, or strobe light colors. While visiting, check out the Nebraska State Museum with it's mounted skeletons of fossil mammoths, mastodons, four-tuskers, and modern elephants. Within the museum, the Ralph Mueller Planetarium offers sky shows and laser light shows. The state capital building looks like something out of Buck Rogers. The tower on the roof rises 400 feet above the building, which is constructed of marble, bronze, gold leaf, and hand-carved wood. Lincoln is also home to the National Museum of Roller Skating. It is the only museum of its kind and it traces the history of skates from the 18th-century through the great era of Vaudeville to competitive skating.
