SeaWorld San Diego opened March 21, 1964 and has hosted more than 100 million guests. The park's land mass is 189.5 acres, including parking and support facilities.

  Come face-to-face with sharks of all shapes and sizes at the Shark Encounter. This 280,000-gallon attraction features a 57-foot, walk-through acrylic tube running the length of the sharks' habitat. As you travel through the sharks’ amazing world, you can view hundreds of fascinating sand tiger, bonnethead, blacktip and whitetip sharks.
     
  Brave the waves on Shipwreck Rapids! Spin and splash through river rapids, plunge through an underground cavern and dodge dripping cargo nets as you swirl around a tropical island.
     
  Touch and feed California bat rays! Get face-to-face with moray eels! And take an up-close look at hundreds of these exotic creatures in their mysterious world of underwater caverns.
   
  Manatee Rescue is one of only three U.S. locations outside Florida displaying the endangered Florida manatee. Here you can see several rescued and rehabilitated manatees residing in a 215,000-gallon freshwater river – featuring a natural environment for manatees and a dramatic underwater viewing gallery for guests.
   
SeaWorld guests may discover parts of the park they have never before seen during a behind-the-scenes guided tour. From observing animal care specialists at work at Wild Arctic to learning how SeaWorld hand feeds sharks, guests may learn what goes on behind the scenes on a 90-minute guided tour.
   
 Climb aboard the "Wahoo Two," a ready-to-explore fun ship for pretend pirates docked right in the center of Shamu's Happy Harbor. Play your way through a crazy water maze, splash down cool slides, crawl through a sea of plastic balls, or create your own sand castle in more than 200 tons of sand!

 

The Shamu Adventure features the world-famous killer whale, Shamu, performing along with Baby Shamu and Namu, in a seven-million-gallon stadium. They’ll delight you as they interact with each other and their trainers. The show features new behaviors as well as some sensational additions such as creeping fog, and a new original soundtrack from composer Brad Kelly.
   
The Sea Lion and Otter Stadium has been transformed into TV studio number three and you’re invited to be a part of the taping of a live show. Biff, the stage manager, warms up the audience with a host of comedic routines before he gets the audience to help him countdown to airtime. As Biff cues the cast and crew, “Saturday Night Live” announcer, Don Pardo, introduces Clyde, Seamore and their human buddy/trainer, Ace.

Your adventure doesn't end at the park's boarders. Out-of-park excursions with new-found friends are part of the fun. Snorkeling and kayaking outing introduce you to the beautiful coastal landscapes and natural history of San Diego.

 

Experience one of the most exciting careers in the world - be a SeaWorld trainer for a day.

Spend a day with the SeaWorld San Diego animal staff and discover the daily efforts involved in caring for and training marine mammals. Have you thought about becoming an animal trainer yourself, or just want to get close to awesome marine life? If so, this day long program is for you.

You’ll start with orientation and then get dressed for a day at the SeaWorld “office”. Then it’s off to meet the star of the park -Shamu and many of his friends. You’ll do everything from helping with food preparation and area clean-up to learning training techniques and interacting with whales and dolphins. Enjoy lunch at our newest restaurant, Shipwreck Reef Cafe.

Because this program is an up-close, intimate experience, only two people at a time can be a SeaWorld “Trainer for a Day.” Participants must be in good physical condition and need to be at least 13 years old.

  

Ever wanted to enter the watery world of dolphins? Now is your chance with SeaWorld’s Dolphin Interaction Program (DIP).  Our splashy DIP begins with a learning session that introduces you to dolphins. Learn about bottlenose dolphin anatomy, physiology, natural history, dolphin husbandry, and animal training at SeaWorld. Then, wade into our shallow water where trainers introduce you to our dolphins. Our wetsuit and booties make this a comfortable experience.

Swimming is not required during these shallow-area interactions. Participants must be at least 6 years old and at least 44" tall. The entire program lasts 90 minutes. In-water experience lasts 20 to 25 minutes. Locker rooms and showers are available for your convenience.
